Belaza Gallery Bilbao, Lore Arenillas

Belaza Gallery Bilbao, Lore Arenillas

3rd Interview with Lore Arenillas of BELAZA GALLERY, Bilbao.

Sensitive and nice dialogue with Lore about her opinion of Bilbao, Design effects into Bilbao’s society and brief stories about her experience in international fashion design markets such as Bread & Butter Berlin + BCN, London Trade shows and small underground markets. She is very happy that Bilbao has this curiosity in Design , architecture and art but she remarked how basque people are traditional and classical. In my opinion, this can be a good combination for a new era inside the city.

Here you can listen to her ideas and opinion.;-)

Design in Society, Serie B. Iranzu Guijarro

1st Interview: Cris from Serie B, Fashion Shop. Bilbao.

Cris mix fashion and music. She is a music lover + she likes beautiful fashion designs. In spring-summer time, sometimes in autumn, every Thursday, you can enjoy outside the shop window a concert. Urban concept very related with the fashion designers that she is trying to introduce in Bilbao. Her opinion about the whole architecture and design show inside Bilbao is positive. She really thinks that in a near future the Guggenheim effects can influence in this society, bringing us new ways of thinking, consuming and dressing.

In this video, you can hear her thoughts about the effects. (In Spanish)

MARVIS, contemporany toothpaste. Helsinki Fashion Weekened

Helsinki Fashion Weekend 2013, last weekend between Musiikkitalo and Kiasma, modern art museum of Helsinki was full of fashion bloggers, fashion designers and fashion brands. Here I discovered MARVIS, an Italian luxury toothpaste brand well connected with fashion movement. MARVIS has revolutionized the concept of the toothpaste, I can tell you that it is true. The flavour is intensive but soft. The aroma is delicious and fresh, you want to eat it. And what I like it most, it is the design and the art of the packaging…The whole branding is an artwork. Modern & Extraordinary. A simple daily gesture into a moment of pure pleasure. These days I have been trying different tastes + the mint mouthwash. NICE! Well done! I recommend you to try it!

Siivouspäivä, Helsinki 2013

What you don’t want, I’m sure! someone wants.

Siivouspäivä, cleaning day in Helsinki, 2013. Every year, twice per year, Siivouspäivä is celebrated in Helsinki. It’s a new thing as a city activity but very very popular. I loved the urban culture and the concept of the whole happening. It is a giant secondhand market where anyone can sell or give away their old things and the ones they are not using in anywhere of the city, just down your house. Taking part in this kind of city-activities you can integrate easier into Finnish society, you can observe how people buy, how people think and how people socialize. The great thing is that here you can always find something special, something vintage and something very very personal. I love it! This year my friends, Sara and Tero, participated and I was helping them… and why not, we introduced a very typical spanish shout in makets: “Me las quitan de las manos, señores”,” ¡A cuanto tiene el kilo de manzanas, señora!” hahahaa! We enjoyed a lot…a bit cold but nice feelings! Yess!

On Saturday, I found this big sueter with beautiful colors and soft texture…my friends also tried it. Nice stuff in an innocent place.

Mykita /Damir Doma

I admire the beautiful collaborations between different disciplines, people and brands. In my opinion, this cowork provokes something innovative and fantastic in life.  MYKITA, a handmade eyewear brand since 2003 based in Berlin, use to collaborate with many brands and combines precise craftsmanship with high-end technologies. Today I want to stand out its collaboration with Damir Doma, the Croatian-born designer grew up in Germany. Doma in his spring – summer 2013 fashion collection introduces a minimal aesthetic designs combined with electric/metal colors. I like how the verticality of his designs are cut off with black thick belts. His work is harmoniously linked by a sense of uniform and an obsessive interplay between shadow and light.

The MYKITA / DAMIR DOMA Collection is a product incarnation for the present-day, where luxury is also state-of-the-art technology. Inspired by the idea of translating the traditional circular frames of the intellectual avant-garde into a modern expression. They create this contemporary design series with models DD01, DD02, DD03 and DD04

DD01

MYKITA / DAMIR DOMA

DD01 MODEL. The combination of cool stainless steel and warm natural horn creates both a visual and haptic contrast reminiscent of the characteristic mix of coarse, stiff fabric and soft flowing textures in Damir Doma’s collections.

DD02

MYKITA / DAMIR DOMA

The DD02 model has circular lenses with stunning colour combinations: bottle-green peridot, translucent amethyst, ruby red, shiny black and clear limpid coupled with silver or black stainless steel. The marriage of the clear acetate with green lenses creates the optical illusion of the latter floating freely inside the frame.

DD03

MYKITA / DAMIR DOMA

The DD03 model remains faithful to the aesthetic concept of contrasting materials in the MYKITA / DAMIR DOMA collaboration. Stainless steel and acetate – a cellulose-based fibre – are the essence of the material mix.

DD04

MYKITA / DAMIR DOMA

Furnishing the DD04 with a more ‘plastic’ look is acetate; a material composed of cotton and colored pigment that has been used in the manufacture of spectacles since production first began. The design elements of the preceding models have been transferred to this sculptural material, resulting in a fresh form of expression.
