After watching twice Visual Acoustics: The Modernism Of Julius Shulman, a documentary about his career and life as an architectural photographer, I would recommend totally this film and again I got surprisingly satisfied of his great simple beauty of mid 20th. century architecture and furniture designs. Lines, angles and different textures + the black & white contrast of his pictures.

Julius Shulman is renowned for some of the most iconic photographs in architectural history. His images seem to reveal the essence of an architect’s vision and capture the spirit of the eras in which they were produced. His distinctive camera angles produced portraits of hundreds of modern structures beyond Los Angeles. He has helped define Modernism for the general public through his photos.

Framing the California Lifestyle. Julius Shulman’s photographs of Southern California’s inventive modern homes promoted the careers of numerous visionary architects including Richard Neutra, John Lautner, and Pierre Koenig. Mid-20th-century homes come alive through Shulman’s compositions of carefully posed models set against streamlined furnishings and breathtaking vistas. Here you have some photo examples.

MARI HOKKANENPhoto: Mari Hokkanen, Set & Setting. Korjaamo kulttuuritehdas, Helsinki. (2012-2013)

KORJAAMO is a large culture factory (kulttuuritehdas in suomi) of Helsinki. Designed with lots of nature details, wood, Scandinavian furniture designs and minimalist style. They have amazing programme, building and spaces for being relaxed and around artistic pieces. Last monday, I went to there. I was very curious to know more about what was happening there. I met with a comfortable bar, art gallery, bookshop and concert/theatre place. Yess! and the prices of the gigs have a good price (8€, 10€, 12€). In the art gallery, there is this exhibition of these 2 artist: Mari Hokkanen » Set & Setting» as a photographer and Ilari Hautamäki «Stargazing» as painter.

The works of photographer Mari Hokkanen often have a strong performative character and she often performs as her own model. This photos are based on stories, set in a scenery that Hokkanen has constructed herself. «…The ambiguity of images is an important element in my work. The exhibition title Set & Setting not only refers to the staged worlds, but also to the imagination of people when they view my works. I always tell my own story, offering one interpretation. As spectators, we project our own set of values to the works we encounter, and finally, our interpretations are representations of a personal mental settings», says Mari.

The paintings of Ilari Hautamäki are abstract landscapes with some figurative elements. The starting point of the grid is the idea of virtual space, computer graphics of 1980s, and the aesthetics of old computer games. The exhibition title is Stargazing, refers to astronomy and stellar and planetary observations. And also, it means dreams and dreaming of something – the gazing at the stars.

«Biluztu nazazu» is a point of view, a way of seeing things between Peru Galbete, Photographer and me, a fashion fan. The name of the project is in basque, Biluztu nazazu (get me undressed). We got inspire from a basque song of Anari. In her song, she recites some metaphors mixing undress concept with taking off your doubts. Be pure.

Here you have a piece of the song: «Etorri eta kenduizkidazu arropak, kenduizkidazu dudak, biluztu nazazu, hitz egin dezagun ezin esan daitekenaz, begi biluziz begiratu elkar, badakizu, ezjakina beti izango dela nagusi;…» Translation: «come and take off my clothes, take off my doubts, get me undressed, we speak about things we cannot achieve, with undressed eyes, we see each other, you know, the unkown is always more important;…»

The world is rolling, we are rolling through the world and why not! we can roll some details of our statics photos. It is nice when you can give life to a non life thing. The photos usually represent a memory, a particular moment but with this movement you can feel that something is happening now, in this present. The moment continues living. That’s great! No real time. A fantastic time.
